Colin MacLachlan

Colin MacLachlan, who has served as assistant director of Engineering at BWH for 18 years, was recently named director of Engineering.

In his new role, MacLachlan is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the department and providing professional and technical direction to ensure cost-effective, efficient operation of all hospital facilities.

“I am thrilled that Colin will be transitioning to the role of director of Engineering,” said George Player, CPE, FMA, vice president of Facilities and Operations. Previously, Player had served as director of Engineering for 20 years. “Colin’s knowledge of the department and our hospital’s facilities will help to elevate and strengthen the department, which will in turn benefit our expanding patient care and research facilities.”

Prior to working at the Brigham, MacLachlan was the director of Engineering at Emerson Hospital. Earlier in his career, he worked as an HVAC technician at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and, prior to that, as a marine engineer at Texaco Marine Services in Port Arthur, Texas. He began his engineering career working as chief engineer of Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. in New York.

MacLachlan received his bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
