Adam Landman, MD, MS, MIS, MHS, has been named BWHC chief information officer (CIO), effective May 2.

He previously served as chief medical information officer (CMIO), playing a central part in helping the hospital advance its vision for achieving innovation through technology and overseeing a range of Partners eCare responsibilities. As CIO, Landman will continue to ensure BWHC is well-positioned to deliver exceptional care by shepherding system-wide strategic IT initiatives, with the goal of evolving the next generation of information systems across BWHC.

“In this changing health care landscape, integrated information technology and innovation play a pivotal role in care redesign, quality, safety and patient engagement,” said Ron M. Walls, MD, executive vice president and chief operating officer at BWHC. “We are confident that Dr. Landman’s strong leadership, along with his experience in fostering a community of innovation, will continue to serve the Brigham well.”

Board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics, Landman joined BWH in 2010 as director of Clinical Informatics in the Department of Emergency Medicine, where he led a project to move ED clinicians from a paper-based method of documentation to an electronic one. He also led the team that built the CliniCam mobile app, which was a secure image-sharing app for acquiring digital images and storing them in a patient’s electronic health record.

“He has been driving efforts at both the local and industry levels to improve the experience of hospital patients and visitors, strengthening the innovation culture at BWHC by collaborating with the leaders of programs like the Brigham Innovation Hub and engaging external digital health companies and startups,” Walls said.

Landman received his MD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and trained in Emergency Medicine at UCLA Medical Center. He was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at Yale University, where he received his MHS. He completed graduate degrees in Information Systems and Health Care Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University.
