Jonathan Dulong

Jonathan Dulong, MBA, was named administrative director of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy, effective June 26.

Working in close partnership with the division chief and the executive administrator for the Department of Medicine, he leads the support staff and is responsible for the overall operating results for the division. Dulong comes to BWH from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., where he served as associate director of administration in the Department of Anesthesiology.

Although his work doesn’t provide direct interaction with many patients, Dulong said being part of a larger mission centered on helping others is energizing.

“It’s a noble industry. We’re here to care for our patients, advance the next generation of health care providers and enhance our research,” he said. “Even when you walk down a hallway and see a patient who looks a little lost, you can help them find their way. Moments like that remind me of why we’re all here.”

Here are three more facts to help you get to know Dulong:

1. He is rejoining the Partners HealthCare family. Earlier in his career, he worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, most recently as senior manager in Operating Room Logistics.
2. Although he’s a Massachusetts native, Dulong says working in the South for the past four years caused a little culture shock when he recently moved back to Boston. The biggest change: readjusting to the faster pace of life around here.
3. He is an avid runner and has completed two marathons: the Boston Marathon and the Nashville Country Music Marathon.
