Maddy Pearson

Madelyn “Maddy” Pearson, MSN, MA, RN, NEA-BC, will join the Brigham as chief nursing officer and senior vice president of Patient Care Services on June 12.

“After conducting a national search for this role, it was clear that Maddy’s devotion to exceptional patient care, combined with her extensive nursing leadership experience and focus on improving quality, safety and the patient experience, make her an excellent fit within our Brigham community,” said Brigham Health President Betsy Nabel, MD.

Pearson will provide strategic leadership for Nursing and Patient Care Services. She will support ongoing efforts to continually deliver an outstanding experience to patients and employees, improve quality and safety, and work strategically to ensure success in a challenging financial environment.

Currently serving as regional senior vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer for the Mount Sinai Health System Downtown Campus in New York, Pearson said she looks forward to becoming part of the BWH community.

“I was drawn to the Brigham because of its cutting-edge innovation, national reputation and close-knit family feeling,” she said.

At Mount Sinai, Pearson has been instrumental in efforts to reduce hospital-acquired conditions and improve quality and patient safety. She also led the development of the Patient Care Services strategic plan and shared decision-making model, and she co-chairs the nursing quality leadership council for the Mount Sinai Health System.

Prior to her work at Mount Sinai, Pearson was the senior vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey. With her leadership, the hospital sustained Magnet status. Additionally, she has served as a program appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program for more than a decade. BWH is currently working to achieve Magnet designation.

Earlier in her career, Pearson held staff nurse and nursing leadership roles at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, her master’s in Nursing Administration from New York University, and her master of science in nursing from Rutgers State University. She is also pursuing her doctorate at Rutgers and is certified as a nursing executive advanced.
